そういえば先日、少し足を伸ばして、ゴッホ展にいってきました。
The other day, I took a little trip and visited the Van Gogh exhibition.
みなさんは、絵画など愛でたりしますか？
私はもっぱら印象派が好きです。といってもまったくの素人で、一般人で、浅いので、オペラグラスを持参したり音声ガイドを聴くなどはせず、ただ鑑賞を楽しむのみの人間です。
Do you enjoy looking at paintings or art?
As for me, I’m especially fond of the Impressionists.
I’m just an ordinary viewer with no expertise, so I don’t bring opera glasses or listen to audio guides—I simply enjoy taking in the artwork as it is.
モネやルノアール、マネやクリムトなども好きですが、一番好きなのはゴッホです。
キャンパスに乗るあのべっとりとした立体的な濃い絵の具の塊が、観ていて飽きない。
“命”を感じさせる生々しさが、なんだか胸をぎゅっとさせてくれます。とても好きです。
I enjoy Monet, Renoir, Manet, and Klimt as well, but Van Gogh is my favorite of all.
Those thick, textured strokes of paint piled onto the canvas never fail to captivate me.
There’s a raw, almost pulsing sense of “life” in his work that tightens my chest in the best way.
I truly love it.
今年の3月にあったモネ展もいきましたが、モネの睡蓮集はとても繊細で、絵の具もキャンバスに塗られたように盛り上がっていなかった印象でした。
画家として大成されていたことをひしひしと感じる無駄のないキャンバスだったように思います。
I also visited the Monet exhibition held this March, and his Water Lilies series felt incredibly delicate.
The paint didn’t seem to rise from the canvas the way Van Gogh’s does; it lay smooth and refined.
The canvases felt stripped of anything unnecessary, as if they reflected the quiet confidence of an artist who had fully matured.
今回のゴッホ展では、『自画像』と『夜のカフェテリア』を楽しみました。
2025年から2026年にかけて開催される展覧会では、ゴッホの前半の作品が集まったようです。
多くのデッサンや、農民の生活を描く初期のゴッホの絵は、いわゆる“ゴッホ”ではない絵で、インディーズのバンドのデモテープを聴いているような新鮮さがありました。
絵のそばには、弟さんのテオへ宛てた手紙の一部も掲示されており、画家が残した絵への思いが垣間見られました。
ゴッホの他にもたくさんの名画があり、大盛況で、最高の一日になりました。

At this Van Gogh exhibition, I especially enjoyed Self-Portrait and The Night Café.
The show, held from 2025 to 2026, focused on works from the earlier part of his career.
Many of the drawings and paintings depicting the lives of farmers didn’t feel like the “Van Gogh” we usually imagine—they had the freshness of listening to an indie band’s demo tape.
Some excerpts from his letters to his brother Theo were displayed beside the artworks, offering a glimpse into the thoughts he poured into his paintings.
There were many other masterpieces as well, and the exhibition was packed. It turned out to be a wonderful day.
If you’re interested in art, I highly recommend visiting.

今回は『アルルの跳ね橋』の複製画を購入しました。これは、2027年に開催されるゴッホ展第2期に日本にくるそうです。とても楽しみです。必ずいきます！🥰

This time, I picked up a reproduction of The Langlois Bridge at Arles.
It seems that the original will be coming to Japan for the second phase of the Van Gogh exhibition in 2027.
