Did everyone get a present from Santa this morning?
My partner and I gave our dog a slightly oversized chew.
Watching his tail wag so hard it looked like it might fly off—so cute, so dear—was pure joy.
The two of us smiled at him together, feeling that today is going to be a good day.
With a cup of coffee in hand, I take a quiet breath.
Let’s make today a gentle, happy one.

先日、友人とカフェにいく機会があったんです。
つらつらと雑談していると、クリスマスの話になり、急に友人は目を輝かせ始めました。
聞くと、どうもクリスマスのムードが好きとのこと。
The other day, I had a chance to go to a café with a friend.
As we chatted about this and that, the topic of Christmas came up, and suddenly my friend’s eyes lit up.
When I asked why, she told me that she simply loves the whole Christmas mood.
年末に浮き足立つ街、かわいいツリーやキャンドルの数々、胸が踊るようなクリスマスソングがそこかしこで聴こえ、それはもう幸せな気分になると。
うんうん！と大きく頷けます。この楽しげな雰囲気は、年末のご褒美のように感じます。
She told me that the city, all buoyant with year‑end excitement—
the cute trees, the candles everywhere,
and the cheerful Christmas songs drifting through the streets—
never fails to make her feel happy.
And I nodded along, completely agreeing.
This festive atmosphere really does feel like a little year‑end reward.
その後は映画の話になりました。
ホリデイ、ラブ・アクチュアリー、ブリジットジョーンズの日記、ジングルオールザウェイ、ホームアローン、グリンチ等々、有名な作品の数々。
この映画のこのシーンが！と話し出すと止まりませんね。最高に楽しいひとときでした。

After that, our conversation shifted to movies.
We went through all the famous ones—The Holiday, Love Actually, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Jingle All the Way, Home Alone, The Grinch, and so many more.
Once we started talking about “that scene in that movie!”, we just couldn’t stop.
It was such an incredibly fun moment.
